Google Nexus 4: Review and Specs

Google Nexus devices can only deliver the core of Google experience when it comes to the smartphone category and here we have Google Nexus 4, said to be one of the rarest devices. Is it? Google nexus 4 is manufactured by LG but features the search engine giant Google mainly. The device has the newly updated Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and features a quad-core processor and 2 GB RAM.

Google hasn’t said why the device is called Nexus 4; is it because it’s the fourth Nexus smartphone or since it has a 4.7 inch display. I got this question in my mind because Google Nexus 7 and Google Nexus 10 tabs have a 7 inch and 10 inch displays respectively. Anyways, leave that! Let’s see why we should welcome Google nexus 4.

Design and Build

The Google Nexus 4 is well groomed by a disco ball effect that gives a sparkling to the phone. We will feel comfortable with the device’s flat black and slick finishing and has rubberized edges which make it stick to the hand. And of course the device will be safe when kept on any flat surface but doesn’t have a removable back plate.

The device weighs about 139g and of course is not the lightest device available. The device has a height of 133.9, width of 68.7 and depth of 9.1. The 4.7inch screen has a true HD IPS display but when off, the screen is invisible.

The Screen

The 4.7 inch display is featured by 1280×768 with 320 pixels per inch. The texts seem razor sharp and the images are bright and vivid and the video seems sharp and smooth with the device.

The Camera

The device comes with an 8MP camera and has a strong flash within it. Just press your finger anywhere on the screen when the camera is open and you will have the access to menu of scenes and modes. And one of the notable features is the Photosphere, the 360 degree camera mode. In the panorama mode, the photosphere will let you take single images and then build up a 360 degree combination that the phone merges itself. The device has got a front camera of 1.3MP.

The Performance

The product runs on a Quad-core Snapdragon S4 pro processor with a 2GB RAM and Google claims that nexus 4 is the fastest Android smartphone currently available. It has a GPS and has got an internal memory of 8 or 16 GB.

Device features a WiFi 802.11 and is Bluetooth enabled. It supports 3G and the NFC is there on the board allowing users to transmit data between compatible devices, by making use of the wireless transfer technology. Moreover the device is capable of wireless charging and owns a Slimport within it.

Google nexus 4 has a 2100 mAh Lithium battery like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and we hope managing a day with it won’t be a trouble. But when making use of the Smartphone’s features the device will fail to have the battery life and also it takes much time for charging.
