Samsung Electronics announced that they have developed the world’s first 5G technology. The technology uses an adaptive array transceiver technology that will run in the millimeter-wave Ka bands for the mobile communication. With this innovative technology we can have a data transmission at the rate of several hundred times than the present 4G networks.
This new 5G technology will be the next compeer of the current 4G LTE networks and we expect the network will be capable of delivering a ubiquitous Gbps experience plus a data transmission rate up to several tens of Gbps per base station.
“The millimeter-wave band is the most effective solution to recent surges in wireless Internet usage. Samsung’s recent success in developing the adaptive array transceiver technology has brought us one step closer to the commercialization of 5G mobile communications in the millimeter-wave bands,” said the Samsung executive vice president and head of digital media and communication R&D, Chang Yeong Kim.
The belief was, the millimeter-wave bands have difficulties in data transmitting due to its difficult propagation features. But the breakthrough by Samsung is a solution for this, since it will transmit data in the millimeter-wave band at a frequency range of 25 GHz with a speed up to 1.056 Gbps and will be available up to a distance of 2 kilometers.
Furthermore, the technology will assist in solving the radio propagation loss at millimeter-wave bands with its adaptive array transceiver technology having 64 antenna elements, resulting in the increased frequency bands which range from MHz to several GHz.
Samsung authorities said that they have plans to go on with the research and developments and is planning to commercialize the technology by 2020. In the same place, the competition for leadership in the next generation technology is rapidly increasing and by now China has established a group called IMT-2020 (5G) and the European Commission intends to invest 50 million Euros in view of bringing out the 5G technology.
On commercialization the technology will be capable of an ultra high speed data transmission up to several hundred times than that of the 4G advanced technology.
Implementation of the 5G technology will allow the users to send and receive file of large volumes without any limitations. For example, you will be able to download an entire movie in a second. Hence the users can enjoy a series of wonderful services like the 3D movies, real time streaming of UHD contents and remote medical services, with the launch of 5G communication.
